Sourced figures: prices in the table carry their source and check month. They are third-party figures, sources can disagree, and none of them is our offer.

The Tanjung Bira entrance fee rests on a Bulukumba tourism office notice in force from 1 February 2024, under Regional Regulation 6 of 2023, with separate adult, child and foreign-visitor rates. Later sources quote figures that do not match it. All of them are in the price table on this page, so confirm the current charge at the gate.
What does the official notice say?
The Bulukumba tourism office notice announces that entry tariffs for the Tanjung Bira zone changed from 1 February 2024, under Regional Regulation 6 of 2023. It sets three visitor categories: Indonesian adult, child, and foreign visitor. The foreign-visitor rate is the highest of the three. The exact amounts appear in the price table on this page, in the rows marked as the official notice, and nowhere else in the text, so there is a single place to compare them.
Two things about that notice deserve attention. It is a government document with a legal basis, which puts it above any guidebook or news article as a statement of what the regulation set. It also dates from 2024, and no newer regulation has surfaced. The notice is therefore your best reference, but it cannot prove what the booth is charging on the morning you arrive.
Why do other sources give different figures?
Because two sources published in 2026 report numbers that do not match the notice. Seascapes' per-person levy sits above the notice's Indonesian adult rate and below its foreign-visitor rate. Warta Makassar's figures sit below the notice's rates for both groups it lists. Neither explains the gap, and the notice was written before either.
| Source | Type and date | Compared with the 2024 notice | How to treat it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bulukumba tourism office | Official notice, in force from February 2024 | This is the baseline | Starting reference |
| Seascapes guide | Resort guide, approximate 2026 figures | Per-person levy above the Indonesian adult rate and below the foreign-visitor rate; adds vehicle charges | One operator's report |
| Warta Makassar | Regional press, July 2026 | Domestic and foreign ticket figures reported lower | No source named for the figures, so do not read it as the current tariff |
So the direction of the gap depends on who you are. An Indonesian adult reading only the Seascapes guide would expect a higher charge than the notice sets, a foreign visitor reading it would expect to pay less, and anyone reading only Warta Makassar would expect less. Read each row in the table as its source wrote it, open the source behind any figure you plan to rely on, treat the notice as your reference if a question comes up, and look for a posted tariff at the booth.
The practical effect is at the booth where, as the next sections explain, small notes count.
Who pays, and what about vehicles?
The notice sets rates by type of visitor. The Seascapes guide describes a gate collecting a tourism levy per person, and it adds separate charges for cars and motorbikes. The official rows in the price table cover people, so if you arrive with a driver, ask whether your fare already covers the vehicle charge and the driver's own entry. The same applies to any transfer your lodging arranges. A short question before you leave Makassar is easier than a discussion at the booth.
Do foreigners pay more? Under the notice, yes. The Warta Makassar article also lists a separate foreign figure, lower than the notice's. Whichever applies on the day, expect a foreign passport to put you on a different line of the tariff from Indonesian companions.
What about late arrivals? The national tourism site lists the beach itself as open 24 hours. That listing covers the beach and not the booth, so if you expect to come in after dark, ask your lodging how late arrivals are handled.
Is it cash only and can you re-enter?
The Seascapes location page says payment at the gate is cash only, and that the booth does not give change for large notes. It also says the ticket generally covers same-day re-entry. Both statements come from one resort rather than from the notice, and "generally" is the operator's own hedge.
In practice that means three things:
- Prepare small notes before you reach the cape. Machines there are limited, as the page on ATMs and cash in Tanjung Bira explains.
- Ask at the booth whether your ticket lets you back in later that day, especially if you plan to leave for a nearby site or the boatyards and return.
- Assume a new day means a new ticket unless told otherwise, and if you are staying several nights, ask your lodging how guests are treated.
Why should you keep the receipt?
Because the notice tells you to. It asks visitors to keep their entry receipt as proof of an insurance policy, and it names Jasa Raharja Putera as the insurer. Coverage, limits and the claims process are not set out there, so treat it as a reason to hold on to a small piece of paper, and not as a replacement for your own travel insurance.
Our suggestion: photograph the receipt as soon as you get it, then keep the original somewhere dry. Whether the booth accepts it for same-day re-entry is a question to ask when you pay. If you ever need to ask about the policy, the insurer the notice names is the company to approach.
What other small fees might you meet?
A few sites on the cape have their own arrangements, and some charge nothing at the door. The table says what is reported and by whom. Amounts, where sources give them, are in the price table.
| Place | Reported charge | Who says so |
|---|---|---|
| Titik Nol | Its own gate fee, adult and child; Teras Bira plaza included | Detik, May 2024 |
| Cape Bira park | Per person; not said to be the same gate as Titik Nol | Seascapes guide |
| Apparalang | Per person | Seascapes guide |
| Panrang Luhu | Free entry; paid parking on residents' land | Detik, May 2024 |
| Boatyards at Tana Beru | No charge reported | Seascapes guide |
Seascapes' Cape Bira park charge and Detik's Titik Nol gate sit on separate rows because neither source says they are the same gate, so ask at the booth which one you are paying. The Detik figures date from May 2024, so they are older than the 2026 reports above. For each site, the dedicated page goes further: Titik Nol, the Apparalang cliffs, Panrang Luhu Beach and the Tana Beru boatyards. On any one day you are unlikely to meet all of these, but a route around the cape can involve several small payments, each in cash.
Do you pay if you stay on the east coast or arrive by public transport?
Travellers' accounts differ and none is official. Let's Explore describes the fee as applying to the south side of Bira. Journey Beyond Horizon says the checkpoint charges people who arrive by their own vehicle or private charter, that you pay once, and that staff did not check them on later trips. That is looser than the Seascapes report earlier on this page, which says the ticket generally covers same-day re-entry. Do not plan on avoiding the fee.
The official notice sets rates by type of visitor and does not work as a map of where the gate applies. So if you are staying at Panrang Luhu or arriving by shared car, ask your lodging whether your route passes the booth, carry small notes, and keep any receipt you are given.
What should you do if the booth asks for something different?
Stay polite, since the person at the booth may be working from a newer instruction than anything published here. Ask to see the posted tariff, pay what it says, and take the receipt. If no tariff is displayed, note the amount, the date and the time, and raise it with your lodging or with the tourism office later. An argument at the gate will not settle it, and a page like this one is no authority on the day. It shows what has been published and by whom, and the source link on each row of the price table is where to check a figure.
What else should you know about the Tanjung Bira entrance fee?
How much is the entrance fee to Tanjung Bira?
The official figures are the 2024 notice rows in the price table on this page. Later reports differ from them, so confirm the amount at the gate.
Do foreigners pay more at Tanjung Bira?
Yes, under the 2024 tourism office notice, which sets a separate and higher foreign-visitor rate. A 2026 press report also lists a separate foreign figure, though a different one.
Do you pay every time you enter Tanjung Bira?
A resort guide says the ticket generally covers same-day re-entry, which suggests paying again on a later day. Ask at the booth, and hold on to your receipt, which the notice ties to an insurance policy.
Is the Bira ticket cash only?
According to the same resort, yes, and the booth does not give change for large notes. Prepare small notes before you reach the cape, because the nearby cash machines are few.
Which published prices did we check?
Public third-party rates and official notices, each with its source and the month we checked it. Sources disagree, some figures are old, and rates change, so check the source before you rely on a figure. These are not our offers.
