By Bira Sulawesi Editorial Desk
About Bira Sulawesi: it is a specialist English-language guide to Tanjung Bira and Bulukumba under Juara Holding Group, with a request desk. The Bira Sulawesi Editorial Desk writes it from named public sources. It is not a resort, dive centre, tour operator, airline or government body, and requests through the desk can lead to a paid booking.
What should you know about Bira Sulawesi?
Bira Sulawesi is a travel guide with one narrow subject. Bira is a village in Bonto Bahari district, Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi, and its coast is the destination known as Tanjung Bira. The guide also covers the surrounding regency where a beach or dive traveller is likely to go. Bulukumba has its capital at Ujung Bulu, an area of 1,175.53 sq km and a mid-2025 population estimate of 485,008, according to Wikipedia citing the statistics agency BPS.
The English-language focus has a practical reason. Antara, quoting the head of the zone's management unit, reported 2,860 foreign visitors in 2024 against 564,026 domestic and local visitors. A coast that serves mainly Indonesian travellers publishes mainly in Indonesian: tariff notices, ferry reports and festival news all arrive that way. Our job is to set that material out in English for someone about to spend money and time, with the source attached to each claim.
You cannot buy a ticket, room or trip on these pages. Bira Sulawesi does not own or run boats, rooms, tours, schedules, packages or stock.
Who writes it?
The Bira Sulawesi Editorial Desk writes every page, and that is the only byline you will see. We publish no personal names, team photographs, author biographies or credentials, because none of them would help you check a claim. A source link will.
The pages are compiled from published sources and are not visit reports. When a page says a beach is calm or a road is slow, it names who said so, and it never presents that as something the desk saw for itself. Read a statement like "Seascapes says" literally: it tells you what a named business has published, and it tells you nothing about what we have verified on the sand.
What sources do we prefer?
We rank sources by how close they are to the decision or the data, and by what they stand to gain. The ranking decides how a claim is worded on the page.
| Source type | How we word it | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Agencies and governments | As that body's statement, with its date where the date matters | Bulukumba tourism office notice on Tanjung Bira entry tariffs |
| International bodies | In the body's own terms, without stretching them | UNESCO's 2017 pinisi inscription |
| Press | Named outlet, plus who the outlet is quoting | Antara on 2024 visitor numbers |
| Research reports | Named publisher, plus any stake it has in the place | Indo Ocean Foundation with Indo Ocean Project |
| Resorts, operators and agencies | Always attributed, with their commercial position stated | Seascapes, a resort guide |
| Forum posts and single travellers | As one person's report, never as a general fact | Diver forum posts on the diving page |
Two examples show why the wording matters. UNESCO inscribed a boatbuilding craft on its Representative List, so we write exactly that and never call Bira a World Heritage Site. The Indo Ocean report compiles 2022-2023 data from 13 dive sites in Tanjung Bira, Liukang Loe and Kambing Island, and it is valuable for that reason. Its publisher also runs dive training in Bira, and the reader deserves to know it.
Operators appear often here because they publish the detail nobody else does. A resort guide may be the only written account of a road or a gate. We use it, name it and remind you that the author sells rooms.
How do we handle source conflicts?
We show them. The entry fee is the clearest case. The tourism office notice says tariffs for the Tanjung Bira zone changed from 1 February 2024 under Regional Regulation 6 of 2023, with separate adult, child and foreign-visitor rates. A resort guide reports a 2026 per-person gate levy above the notice's Indonesian adult rate and below its foreign-visitor rate, plus vehicle charges. A July 2026 article in Warta Makassar gives figures below it, without saying where they came from. Those are three different answers from three kinds of source, and the figures themselves appear on the entrance fee page, each tied to who said it.
Smaller conflicts get the same treatment. The national tourism site gives roughly 5 to 6 hours overland from Makassar, while Detik reports 3 to 4 hours for about the same distance. That site also describes Tanjung Bira as the southernmost tip of the Sulawesi mainland, and a resort guide says the point is not the true southernmost point. Our working rules are these:
- Name each source and what it says.
- Give dates when one source may simply be older than another.
- Never merge figures from different sources into one combined range.
- Never pick a winner silently. If we favour one, we say which and why.
- Tell you how to settle the question yourself, such as asking at the gate.
How does the site make money?
Through the desk. Readers can write with a request, and a request can lead to a paid booking, so Bira Sulawesi has a commercial interest in what you decide to do. Keep that in mind when you read any page, including this one.
Any fee, any price and the company that contracts with you are stated in writing in an offer before you agree to anything. The site itself is not a contracting party, and a reply from the desk is an answer to a question. Published figures on our pages come from third parties with their sources shown, and they are not offers of ours.
What does this guide not promise?
A guide can tell you what has been published. It cannot control the sea. We make no promise on any of the following, and the disclaimer sets out the terms in full:
- Availability of any boat, room, seat, course or package.
- Marine life sightings, in any month or at any site.
- Weather, sea conditions, ferry sailings or road conditions.
- Your safety on a beach, cliff, boat or dive. The safety page covers what the sources warn about.
- Medical or legal outcomes. Nothing here is medical or legal advice.
Some things we leave out on purpose. You will not find named recommendations of hotels, dive shops, boatmen or drivers, or ratings that nobody can check. Third-party phone numbers and contact details are not republished either.
How do we correct mistakes?
Write to the desk with three things: the address of the page, the sentence you think is wrong and a public source that shows otherwise. A dated notice, press report or official page carries the most weight. If you run a business named on this site and a detail has changed, a public page of your own is better than a private assurance, because readers can follow a link to it.
When a stronger or newer source changes the picture, the page changes and the source list changes with it. If the new source only conflicts with the old one and does not replace it, both stay on the page with their dates.
What else might you want to know about this guide?
Who is behind Bira Sulawesi?
Juara Holding Group stands behind this guide and its request desk. Pages are written by the Bira Sulawesi Editorial Desk, and no personal names are published.
How does Bira Sulawesi make money?
Requests through the desk can lead to a paid booking, which gives the site a commercial interest. Any fee, price and contracting company are stated in writing in an offer before you agree.
How does Bira Sulawesi check its facts?
Each claim is tied to a named public source and worded according to who said it. Operator and agency claims are attributed, and conflicts between sources are shown openly.
Does Bira Sulawesi visit the places it writes about?
Pages are compiled from published sources and are not written as visit reports. Nothing on the site should be read as a first-hand account of a beach, boat, dive or room.
Is Bira Sulawesi the official tourism site or a travel agent?
It is neither a government body nor a tourism authority, and it is not a resort, dive centre, tour operator or airline. It is a guide with a request desk.

How do I reach the desk?
Questions, corrections and travel requests all go to the same two places: WhatsApp +62 811-3941-4563 and email bd@juaraholding.com. Say which of the three you are sending, as a correction needs a source and a request needs dates. The contact page explains how to write the message and what happens next.
Send the desk your dates, group size, and what you want to do. The desk replies in writing.
